Reconnect Program: Partnership with Dell

“Dell wants to make computer recycling easy, convenient and free for any consumer, and Reconnect is an important program that helps make that possible,” said Joe Strathmann, head of product recycling services for Dell. “This program is a win on all fronts. It benefits the environment, the community and consumers in Western New York.”

In 2008, Goodwill Industries of WNY collaborated with Goodwill of Rochester and Goodwill of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey to commit in Reconnect, a free drop-off program to recycle unwanted computers. Introduced by Dell in 2004 in Austin, Texas the program offers consumers in Western New York to dispose your computer and accessories at ten convenient Goodwill locations, seven days a week.

HOW TO DONATE:

We accept all brands of computers, monitors, mice, keyboards, peripherals and wiring in any condition, working or not. For your convenience, unwanted equipment may be dropped off at any Goodwill Store or Attended Donation Center during normal operating hours. We will provide a Goodwill receipt at the time of your donation.

DELL ensures that all donated equipment is properly disposed of in full accordance with DEC, OSHA and other applicable U.S. laws. No E-waste is shipped overseas.

Please note: it is the donor’s responsibility to remove all data from hard drives and other storage media prior to donation. As computer equipment contains environmental toxins and creates hazards if damaged, please do not leave these donations outside a Goodwill store or ADC before - or after - hours.

Responsible recycling of e-waste is critical to our environment. We are honored to join other Goodwill/Dell Reconnect partners around the country in this beneficial community effort, which also supports our Goodwill employment mission.
