Dear Friend of Goodwill,
Every day, with your support, your Goodwill Industries of Western New York touches the lives of over 15 unique individuals in the community. These are people who are struggling to not only meet their basic needs, but also are working hard to reach a new path that will lead to a more sustainable life for them and their loved ones.
For over 90 years your Goodwill, right here in Western New York, has been working to provide people with “not Charity, but a Chance” – a Chance to turn their life around, a Chance to obtain the skills they need to obtain a job, a Chance to break or keep from entering the cycle of poverty.
Your Goodwill serves people by offering programs you may not think of when you think of Goodwill:
- Two programs that serve veterans who are homeless or otherwise disadvantaged and looking for stability and employment
- Two GED classes serving people from the lower East Side of Buffalo
- Technology Training Program offering computer skills training to people who are looking to improve their employability and earnings potential
- Career Exploration to analyze skills, abilities, possible vocational outcomes
- Transitional Job Training
- Alternative Work Services to identify gainful opportunities for individuals with severe or multiple disabilities
- And a host of other programs all designed to help people land a job
I don’t need to tell you the need for the services that your Goodwill provides is greater than ever. While the overall unemployment rate in Erie and Niagara counties is lower than the national average, that rate in the populations that we serve is higher than ever. We need your help to expand the programs we offer and increase the number of people we can serve.
That’s why we need your support this holiday season and are asking you to consider your Goodwill when planning your yearend financial donations. Goodwill provides long term, sustainable solutions that changes lives so you know that the support you
provide is being used to build a stronger community – one person at a time!
