In October 2011, Goodwill Industries of WNY, Inc. relocated WNY Books to the North Buffalo location, acquiring the space previously occupied by the Technology Training Center. The space is adjacent to the Goodwill store on Delaware Ave.
WNY Books was established in October 2009, selling its first books on Amazon.com. In the Summer of 2010, WNY Books branched into eBay and half.com. Shortly before the relocation, Abe books, and Alibris.com were added to the WNY Books roster.
WNY Books built and maintained an inventory of nearly 5,500 listings. The move to North Buffalo opened space for processing additional donations at Goodwill's main processing facility on William St. Likewise, in its own right, WNY Books now has more room for sorting, scanning, listing, rotating and shipping. Inventory has more than doubled since the move.
“Having our own space has its advantages, especially in regards to organization and rotating stock,” said Bianca Zurek, Manager of E-Books. “We’re now housing an active online inventory consisting of nearly 12,000 items. What was at one time just books, we now sell CD's and DVD's. These new additions of digital media are welcome sellable components which we would love to expand. Items of this nature will continue to build momentum and ensure the growth of WNY Books.”
