Jessica struggled to find a job for many reasons including lack of time, education, support and lack of experience. With five young boys at home, she was determined to get on a career path she could grow with to enable her to provide for her family.
Jessica enrolled in the Jamestown Goodskills Career Builder program located on the Jamestown Community College (JCC) campus with an energy and drive to change her life. She worked hard to obtain her workforce readiness skills, manufacturing training, OSHA certification and experiential learning experience while at Goodskills. A tour of the Manufacturing Technology Institute (MTI) on the JCC campus with her Jamestown cohort awakened Jessica’s interest in continuing her education. Cost and timing were two factors that were overwhelming to Jessica and had always prevented her from pursuing her dream.
After graduation from Goodskills, with the encouragement and support of her Goodskills Career Coach Jessica enrolled at MTI for the hands-on technical training she needed to be prepared for a career in advanced manufacturing in the Southern Tier region. Her instructors described her as motivated and self-driven as she went on to complete both the Industrial Maintenance Technician and CNC/Machinist trainings.
With her Goodskills certificate of completion and the certificates she has earned though MTI, Jessica has built an impressive resume. She is now ready to build her career and give her children and her family the support that they need.
The sky is the limit for Jessica and we are excited for what the future holds for her.
