Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

The Goodwill of Western New York Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) provides on-site paid training opportunities for motivated individuals over the age of 55 at participating 501c3 non-profit organizations in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. The program is made possible through a grant from the Center for Workforce Inclusion and the US Department of Labor.

Our mission is to meet the staffing needs of organizations while helping seniors update their job skills, build work experience, grow confidence, and strengthen their economic security.

For Seniors

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a paid training program designed to help those aged 55 to have economic security and well-being. The program is made possible through a grant from the Center for Workforce Inclusion and the US Department of Labor.

SCSEP participants receive paid on-site training, develop valuable skills, gain experience, and build self-confidence. Participants can use their skills and talents to improve their community by training in a wide variety of locations, including offices, hospitals, adult daycare centers, and other community organizations.

Want to know if you qualify?

  • Do you live in Chautauqua or Cattaraugus County?

  • Are you 55 years of age or older?

  • Are you unemployed?

  • Do you earn a low or no income? (Goodwill will help you determine the income criteria.)

  • Do you wish to work in your community?

  • Do you want to be paid to learn new skills through on-the-job training?

If you answered “yes” to the above questions, you may be eligible for SCSEP.

For Non-Profits

A Valuable and Important Workforce
The senior workforce, age 55 or older, brings unmatched experience, emotional intelligence, and generational diversity to the workplace. SCSEP participants have helped food banks, pet rescues, libraries, day care centers, and more to accomplish their missions by becoming valuable employees and team members.

We Provide Funding. You Provide Training.
Through a grant from the Center for Workforce Inclusion and the US Department of Labor, Goodwill of Western New York is able to cover 100% of the wages of employees hired through SCSEP in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties.

We identify and screen these job seekers to match their skill set and interests to our non-profit employer partners.

"I needed to learn how to update my resume. My resume was so old. It's just not the format they use today. How to dress for your interview. They taught us that."
