Goodwill Honors The McGuire Group as Employer of the Year

More than 40 years ago, Frank J. McGuire made an investment in our area by opening Seneca Health Care Center in West Seneca. This was followed by additional locations over the next two decades including a facility in Michigan and five additional facilities in New York State.

Today the McGuire Group defies the stereotypes of the nursing home industry, demonstrating that great things can happen when a family-run organization has strong ties to the community and creates a supportive culture to give patients and staff the resources they need. Over the years their programs have grown in scope and complexity from 24-hour skilled nursing care to subacute and outpatient rehabilitation, secured memory care units, Journeys palliative care, hospice services and respite/short-term care for individuals seeking temporary options for a loved one.

The McGuire Group is a major employer in Western New York. In addition to a company-wide nursing staff that numbers more than 1,300, The McGuire Group employs more than 140 rehabilitation specialists as well as physical therapy assistants and certified occupational therapy aides. These individuals are all part of a team that treats more than 4,000 rehabilitation patients annually.

Several Goodwill program clients are now members of that very special team. Our clients have taken advantage of the workforce development training Goodwill offers them and have moved on to The McGuire Group’s certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program, a program that is offered at no cost to them. Upon completion of the program, graduates are offered positions at The McGuire Group facilities. Goodwill clients have also been placed in service positions in the activities, laundry and dietary departments of the facilities. Jonathan Hart, administrator at The McGuire Group’s Harris Hill facility says. “Our experience with Goodwill has been very positive. As an engaged member of the community, The McGuire Group seeks out and welcomes opportunities to help people help themselves. Caring for those who care for the frail elderly we serve is important to us.”

The McGuire Group’s mission is to be the first and best choice for their residents and patients. This philosophy is reflected in the actions of their staff, the outstanding government rankings they’ve attained, and the quality of their programs. The McGuire Group is proud to be an integral part of the health care fabric of Western New York, and we are proud to recognize them for changing the lives of individuals we work with by providing training and meaningful career opportunities.
