OLEAN, N.Y. — Goodwill of Western New York today announced the opening of its newest retail location at 2610 W. State Street in Olean, located in the former Valu Home Center at Holiday Park Centre. The store and donation center will be open by August 1, marking Goodwill’s first retail store in Cattaraugus County.
The fully renovated building will offer more than 24,000 square feet of shopping, donation, and processing space, making it one of the largest Goodwill store locations in the region. The store will carry more than 25,000 unique and often one-of-a-kind items, including clothing, shoes, accessories, home goods, small appliances, furniture, electronics, and more.
“We are incredibly proud to bring a Goodwill store to Olean,” said Thomas Ulbrich, President and CEO of Goodwill of Western New York. “This new location marks an exciting expansion into the Southern Tier and creates new opportunities for individuals and families throughout the region. Every donation and purchase made at this store will directly support workforce development and community programs right here in Western New York. We look forward to growing our presence in this community for years to come.”
Jobs and Workforce Development
The new store will employ approximately 20 individuals in both full-time and part-time positions. Job seekers are encouraged to attend open interview sessions on Tuesday, June 16 and Thursday, June 18 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Holiday Park Centre, next to the new store location. In addition to retail operations, the Goodwill Olean location will feature a 1,200-square-foot career center offering free job training workshops to community members beginning this fall through Goodwill’s Goodskills Career Builder Program. Starting this Fall, the center will host workshops designed in coordination with local employers to ensure participants build the skills needed for in-demand positions.
Goodwill plans to expand workforce development programming at the site in 2027, increasing access to employment services and training.
Donation Center
The Olean store will include a covered drive-up donation center at the front of the building, with a dedicated attendant available to assist donors during store hours. Goodwill of WNY will also assume operations of the existing donation center at 3121 W. State Street, previously managed by Goodwill Industries of North Central Pennsylvania under a cooperative agreement.
All proceeds from donated goods sold at the Goodwill Olean store will stay in Western New York, funding programs and services across the region.
