Host a Clothing Drive For Goodwill and Help Change Lives!

Is your school, church, club or civic organization searching for an easy, fun-to-do service project that will make a real impact on the lives of needy individuals right here in Western New York?

Help Goodwill with a community drive for clothing and household goods - and put the power of a paycheck into the hands of jobless Western New Yorkers!

The gently used items you collect will be recycled through our Goodwill Stores or online site to support local employment programs that are nationally recognized for their quality and effectiveness ...programs that prepare men and women for workplace success and open doors to self-sufficiency.

Your drive will help provide struggling individuals in our community with the tools they need to break free of poverty...and break down perceptions of powerlessness that prevent them from reaching their full potential!  We'll show your group how to put together a drive in your community. And we'll assist you throughout the drive.  Help us make a real difference in the lives of others contact Moreen Pfohl at 854-3494 for the details.

The M&T Charitable Foundation and
The John R. Oishei Foundation Support Unique
E-Commerce Internship at Goodwill Industries of WNY

Technology drives the modern workforce - creating new job opportunities and changing existing jobs.  Goodwill Industries of WNY had recently begun to participate in a new on-line shopping venture, shopgoodwill.com, when a workforce readiness training opportunity presented itself: e-commerce.

The Goodwill Work Internship in E-Commerce is an intensive 4-week, competency-based training program utilizing shopgoodwill.com, the Internet auction site of the national Goodwill movement.    The curriculum covers Internet security measures, payment gateways, E-commerce trends and opportunities, business model development, verification of valid sales and customer service. Interns will also build a portfolio of merchandising, visual presentation, creative and general business skills and aptitudes applicable or adaptable to many kinds of careers. Interns who successfully complete the program will receive job placement services or be linked to other community resources to complete preparation for home-based entrepreneurship.

The internship program will be located in the new e-commerce satellite at 2265 Delaware Avenue adjacent to Goodwill's Career Technology Training Center and accommodates six interns in each four-week cycle, 78 individuals annually. The M&T Charitable Foundation will equip the satellite's computer workstations and The John R. Oishei Foundation will underwrite personnel and programming for the internship program's initial year.
